Some recent reviews of The Long Staff...

"This is a well-written fantasy with great multi-dimensional characters. I found the Scottish touches to be charming alongside the fun and powerful magical elements throughout this suspenseful adventure. I look forward to reading on to its upcoming sequel, "The Ancient Exile." - Fantasy Cookie, extract from fantasycookie.blogspot.com

"Set in the Scottish Highlands, this absolutely amazing magical tale held me spellbound from beginning to end. I felt I was there in the story beside the main character Tom MacKay as he travelled back in time, meeting up with his ancestors. Tom has to learn about the staff he will inherit - an old stick with celtic carvings. I feel this first book in the series is written for young teenagers as it kept my attention making me want to keep reading. It was even good enough to stop me playing on my computer as I was propelled to read more! I can’t wait for the next in the series to come out. If I was to sum it up in one word it would be ‘Amazing!’" - Ryan, Stranraer

"Tom Mackay visits his Grandfather at his home in Cairn Holme, where he is transported through time to help his ancestors using the staff he knows little about. I like the action and I like that he needs to learn the spells for his survival. There was a lot of planning and running involved." - Conall, Holy Cross High School

"Tom Mackay travels to his grandfather’s home in Cairn Holme. When he arrives he is told of the powers of his granda’s staff. One night the staff takes him back in time where he must use the powers to save his ancestors. I like the final battle where he fights on his own when Torean (his ancestor) gets injured." - David, Holy Cross High School
